Yasna Ensemble

Founded in 2016, Yasna is a mixed instrumentation ensemble that promotes and performs Middle Eastern inspired music in the DC area. Yasna’s goal is to bring folk, classical, contemporary, and other styles of Middle Eastern music to venues across the DMV, and to show the varieties of styles inspired by the culture and the history of the Middle East. Yasna has performed at venues such as the Gildenhorn recital hall at the University of Maryland, National Institute of Health in Bethesda, the Katzen Hall at the American University, the Roshan Institute for Persian Studies, the Emruz Festival, as well as in outdoor concert series such as the College Park outdoor concerts series. Yasna’s repertoire includes original compositions and arrangements inspired by Middle Eastern folk and classical music, as well as works composed by composers of the Middle East. Instrumentation includes both Western and Middle Eastern instruments including but not limited to strings, Iranian kamancheh, tombak, tambour and more!
